MASON CITY – Police took two wanted men to jail after they arrived in a neighborhood near downtown Mason City.
Mason City police arrived at 434 East State Street on the morning of April 26. There, they located two men wanted on warrants. Truman Jacobson, age 24, and Alex Welch, age 26, were both taken into custody on active arrest warrants, Mason City Chief of Police Jeff Brinkley tells NIT.
Welch was involved in a chase with Mason City police back in October of 2017 in which he refused to yield to police. Only after his vehicle became disabled was he finally apprehended; he was allegedly caught with a dangerous weapon. He was later given a suspended fine and prison sentence, 60 days in jail and 2 years of probation, which he is now accused of violating.
Jacobson is a convicted domestic abuser, whose last brush with violence was in August of last year, leading to a conviction for second-offense domestic abuse assault. He is accused of violating his probation in that case.

Probation is a joke and largely a waste of tax payer funds. You could cut funding in half and get the same results.
