RURAL MITCHELL COUNTY – A Northern Iowa man died after an auto accident this week in rural Mitchell county.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, the accident took place at Balsam Avenue and Highway 9 at 7:35 PM on April 23. Garrett Bormann, age 24 of Ionia, was driving southbound on Balsam Avenue in his 1997 Dodge Ram pickup when he failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection with Highway 9. Osage residents Linda Jahncke, age 65, and her passenger, 61-year-old Kenneth Jahncke were eastbound on Highway 9 in a 2014 Honda Accord when they were struck broadside by Bormann’s pickup.
As a result of the collision, Bohrmann was killed. The crash report says he was not wearing a seatbelt.
Linda Jahncke and Kenneth Jahncke were injured and taken by ambulance to a Mitchell county hospital.
The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by the Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office and Mayo One Life Flight.
