Tom Skoro
MASON CITY – For the fourth time this season, a NIACC baseball player has been selected as the ICCAC player of the week.

NIACC’s Tom Skoro earned the league’s pitcher of week award for the week of April 16-22.

Earlier this season, Brandon Williamson earned the pitcher of week award and Kamrin Arons and Fox Leum were selected as the player of the week.

Skoro (6-2) tossed a complete-game shutout last Sunday against Iowa Central.

It was the first shutout in league play for the Trojans since the 2015 season.

Against the rival Tritons, Skoro, who scattered four hits, struck out eight and walked four.

Also last week, the southpaw pitched 2 1/3 innings of scoreless ball in relief in a 1-1, 11-inning tie against Kirkwood on April 17.

Skoro, who has won his last three starts, is third in the ICCAC with 68 strikeouts in 44 2/3 innings pitched with a 3.22 earned run average. Skoro averages 13.70 per nine innings pitched.
