Northern Iowa man accused of dealing meth

EMMETSBURG, IOWA – A Northern Iowa man is accused of dealing meth, police say.

On Sunday, April 1, 2018, at approximately 10:00 PM, the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office arrested 38-year-old Christopher Smith of Emmetsburg on a valid Palo Alto County warrant. The warrant stems from original charges including:

– Three counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver more than 5 grams of methamphetamine (class B felonies)

– One count of neglect or abandonment of a dependent person (class C felony)

– One count of possession of a firearm by a felon (class D felon)

– One count of used or expired drug tax stamp (class D felony)

Bond was set in the amount of $75,000.00 cash or surety.

Smith was being held by Clay County Sheriff’s Office and was transported to the Palo Alto County Jail, without incident. Smith was unable to post bond and was subsequently booked in to jail to await his initial appearance before a magistrate.
