Mason City burglar gets lenient plea deal after numerous break-ins

MASON CITY – A sweet plea deal was handed down to a man caught by police after he had allegedly committed multiple burglaries in a Mason City neighborhood, garages and automobiles.

A Cerro Gordo county deputy spotted what appeared to be a suspicious male subject near Carolina Avenue and 15th Street SE in Mason City on January 13, 2018 at about 1:15 AM. The deputy soon determined that the subject, 22-year-old Joshuah John Hockenson of Mason City, committed at least three burglaries in the area within a few blocks of this location.

Hockenson was arrested on charges of third-degree burglary, two counts of third-degree burglary of a motor vehicle, felony second-degree theft and carrying weapons.

However, a plea deal was reached in the Cerro Gordo county prosecutor’s office, and all the charges were dropped except a charge of third-degree burglary. Hockenson was sentenced to a suspended 5-year prison term, 5-years of probation and a suspended fine. The courts are demanding Hockenson pay $356.00 in costs and fees.

Meanwhile, Hockenson was nabbed by cops last October. On Monday, October 16, Hockenson was arrested in connection with several garage burglaries that occurred in the last week. Taken in these burglaries were tools and bicycles. After Hockenson’s arrest, officers served search warrants at two residences in Mason City. Hockenson was charged with two counts of 3rd degree burglary, two counts of attempted burglary in the 2nd degree and 4th degree theft. However, Hockenson was more suspended prison sentences (5 and 2 years) on charges of third-degree burglary and third-degree burglary of a motor vehicle. He must serve 180 days in a residential facility (likely Beje Clark). All the other charges were again dropped. The courts are demanding $912.75 in fees, costs and restitution.

Keep electing bleeding heart liberals. They are going to help and rehabilitate these people with love.

REALITY CHECK: Misery changes behavior unless mentally unable to comprehend. I don’t see anything in our current sentencing laws that produces ANY misery!

Our current justice system is really screwed up thanks to the bleeding hearts.

We need new county prosecutor’s that will stop the plea deals and lock these criminals up.

didn’t he violate parole?? isn’t anything done about that anymore., can see why criminals want venue changed, doesn’t matter if they are found guilty or not, nothing happens to them, what a determent

What’s a determent?

Curious if Them Weapons Were Tools 4 Breaking Entering?
