Two dead, four hurt in car crash near Decorah

DECORAH – Two teens died and at least four others were hurt Monday after two vehicles collided near Decorah.

The accident took place Monday, February 5 at about 8:30 AM on County Road W40 south of 173rd Avenue, a few miles outside Decorah. A 1999 Oldsmobile Alero driven by 17-year-old Avery Arneson of Decorah was traveling north on county road W40. A 2008 Ford F-150 driven by 15-year-old Gage Dahlberg was traveling south on county road W4. Arneson lost control of the Alero; it then crossed the center line and began sliding sideways. The pickup truck then collided with the passenger side of the Alero.

As a result, Avery Arneson was killed, as was a passenger, 13-year-old Aden Arneson. Dahlberg was hurt, as were three other passengers in the Alero. They were all taken to hospitals by ambulances.

To lose 2 children at the same time… can’t even imagine what that would do to a family. May God be with them.

So sad. I’m sorry for your loss

That so sad to hear. These winter roads up north are dangerous at times. Be safe.
