Mason City woman caught shoplifting with meth

MASON CITY – A Mason City woman fresh onto probation for stealing was caught shoplifting at a local retail store with the illegal drug methamphetamine in her possession, police say.

Mason City police were sent to Shopko, 615 South Monroe Avenue, on the evening of January 19, 2018 for a shoplifter. There, they encountered 29-year-old Angel Marie Ward, who lives nearby in Mason City. After an investigation, officers arrested Ward for third-degree theft and possession of methamphetamine and a controlled substance. She posted surety bond two days later and was released from jail.

Just days earlier, Ward pled guilty to fourth-degree theft for a crime she committed in Mason City back on September 14, 2017. She was put on probation for a year, ordered by a judge to pay $1,186.25 in fines and court fees and given a suspended 10 day jail sentence. She was also convicted of stealing in Mason City back in 2016.
