MASON CITY – A Mason City woman was slapped with fines recently after her dog bit an animal control officer.
The dog attack happened on the afternoon of November 27, 2017. Animal control officer Pat Gansen was bitten by a mixed-breed dog at 312 14th Street NW. According to Gansen’s superiors, two other dogs were also present, but did not attack. They say Gansen believes that the mother dog was reacting to perceived danger to her pups.
The attack was “not serious”, but did require medical attention, Hall says.
As a result of the incident, the owner of the attacking dog, Jaimie Kalkbrenner, who lives nearby, was cited for three counts of animal at large and one count of no rabies vaccination. She later pled guilty and was ordered to pay $510.00 in fines and court fees.
The dogs were impounded.
