Clear Lake woman to stand trial this month on false rape report

Worth county courthouse

NORTHWOOD – A Clear Lake woman will stand trial this month in Worth county after allegedly reporting to police a false rape attempt.

On October 10, 2017, the Worth County Sheriff’s Office charged Ty Wooten, of Clear Lake, with false report. The Worth county sheriff’s office says Wooten’s original claim made on September 28, 2017, of attempted rape with injuries and weapon would have been felony level making the false report charge a serious misdemeanor.

During the alleged attempted rape investigation, the morning after Wooten reported the alleged attack, she recanted her statement in an interview with the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigations that the attack never happened and that there was not anyone else involved.

Records show a trial is scheduled in Worth county on January 31. A pre-trial conference is set for January 16.
