Two people hurt in rear-end collision Thursday evening near Mason City

MASON CITY – Two people were hurt in a rear-end collision Thursday evening near Mason City.

On Decemeber 14th, 2017 at 7:43 PM, the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office responded to a traffic collision in the 11000 block of Highway 122. A 2010 Chrysler Sebring driven by Mary Murphy, 78, of Mason City was rear-ended by a 2017 Nissan Altima driven by Luke Benjamin, 27, of Clear Lake, causing both vehicles to enter and end up in the median.

As a result of the collision, Murphy was taken to emergency room Mercy Medical Center by ambulance and Benjamin was transported by private vehicle to the emergency room. Both subjects suffered minimal injuries.

Both vehicles were totaled in the collision.

The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by the Mason City Fire Department and Clear Lake Fire Department.
