FAYETTE COUNTY – A Charles City teen was hurt in a car crash in Fayette county recently, authorities say.
The incident took place on November 28 at 4:49 PM, when the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office took a report of a vehicle in the ditch and on its side on 80th Street west of Q Ave.
An investigation by the sheriff’s office determined that a 16-year-old juvenile from Charles City whom they did not name was operating a 2007 Ford Ranger westbound on 80th Street when she met an eastbound vehicle. Trying to avoid a collision, she lost control, entered the south ditch and overturned onto the passenger side. The driver was transported to Mercy Hospital in Oelwein by Mercy Ambulance to be evaluated for minor injuries.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Maynard Fire and First Responders. The vehicle is considered a total loss. The incident remains under investigation.
