MASON CITY – A Mason City man with a history of felonious crimes was caught drunk driving this week.

A Cerro Gordo county deputy conducted a traffic stop on the evening of Monday, December 4 at the 900 block of North Federal Avenue. After an investigation, the deputy determined that the driver, 29-year-old Nicholas Jon Wilmarth, was intoxicated, had no insurance, was driving while revoked and had interfered with law enforcement. He was jailed and soon released, pending a court date.

Earlier this May, Wilmarth fled police as he was wanted on a warrant. He was soon caught and charged with eluding. Weeks later, he was guilty and sent to jail for 30 days and ordered to pay $585.25 in fines and court fees.

Wilmarth was sent to prison back in 2013 on felony burglary charges. Before he was tried in that case, he fled officers back in December of 2012 as they investigated a car burglary.

Records show Wilmarth has a revoked parole status, but has bonded out of the county jail.
