Iowa man jailed for punishing stepfather with broom handle

MANCHESTER, IOWA – An Iowa man was taken to jail this weekend for punishing his stepfather with a broom handle.

On November 15, 2017 the Manchester, Iowa Police Department received a 911 call from 104 West Fayette Street. When police arrived on the scene, they observed a male subject getting into a car. An officer spoke with the male subject. He stated there was an altercation between himself and his stepfather. Further investigation uncovered the subject had pushed his stepfather and struck him with a broom handle. The complainant had sustained physical injury from the assault.

As a result, 20-year-old Zachary Dean Wefel of Manchester, Iowa was charged with
Domestic Assault/Use of a Dangerous Weapon an Aggravated Misdemeanor and taken to jail.

Technically tresspassing since he assulted someone, the county attorney better nail him with tresspassing and judge should give him two years.

The headline and the first paragraph make it sound as if the stepfather did something wrong and was being “punished“ for it. I suppose we will have to wait for a trial to get the rest of the story.
