MASON CITY – A house fire was extinguished Thursday in Mason City.
The incident took place around 3:40 PM Thursday afternoon. The Mason City Fire Department was dispatched to 953 5th Street SE for a small fire with smoke surrounding the structure, located at the corner of South Kentucky and 5th Street. The incident led to Mason City police blocking the off the streets for safety reasons.
Firefighters put out a small outdoor fire in the back of the house after checking out the inside.
All occupants appeared to get out of the house safely.
