ESTHERVILLE, IOWA- Police in this small Northern Iowa town chased a Minnesota man on foot after he was suspected of harming a 2-year-old girl.
On November 3, Estherville Police responded to a complaint of possible child abuse. During the investigation, it was determined that a 2-year-old female child had received injuries that were suspected to be from abuse. The child was transported to Avera Holy Family Hospital for treatment of her injuries.
As a result of the investigation, Estherville Police executed a search warrant at 202 South 13th Street Apartment 6. During the search, Estherville Police located items of Drug Paraphernalia and Prescription Pills. A short time later, Estherville Police went to 1006 Central and located the suspect in the case, 30-year-old Kenny Peaches of South St. Paul, Minnesota. After initial contact, Estherville Police were involved in a foot pursuit resulting in the arrest of Peaches.
Peaches was transported to the Emmet County Jail where he was initially charged with Interference with Official Acts. Upon completion of the investigation, Peaches was additionally charged with Neglect of a Dependent Child a Class “C” Felony, Child Endangerment with Bodily Injury a Class “D” Felony, Child Endangerment an Aggravated Misdemeanor, Unlawful Possession of Prescription Drugs a Serious Misdemeanor, and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia a Simple Misdemeanor.
Peaches was appeared before a Magistrate and is being held on a $20,000 cash bond. Peaches is also being held on a Felony Warrant out of Ramsey County Minnesota.
Estherville Police were assisted by some very helpful citizens, the Emmet County Sheriff’s Office, the Emmet County Attorney’s Office and the Iowa Department of Human Services.
