CHARLES CITY – A Chicago man is behind bars after a theft investigation in Charles City.
The Charles City Police Department reports that Wednesday night, October 25, around 9 PM, officers executed a search warrant at an apartment in the 2100 block of Clark Street, possibly the Morningside Apartments, searching for stolen property. The search warrant was in connection to multiple incidents which had been reported to the police department.
As a result of the search and investigation, 27-year-old Antoine Cooks of Chicago was arrested for fifth-degree theft. Police say several additional charges are pending as the investigation continues. Cooks has already entered a not-guilty plea and awaits a December 6 non-jury trial.
The Floyd county sheriff’s office assisted with multiple deputies.
Earlier this summer, Cooks was arrested for driving without a valid license. Currently, Cooks is facing a charge of fourth-degree criminal mischief in Black Hawk county. Cooks also owes Iowa courts $581.25 after he was caught in a vehicle with an open container of alcohol in Floyd county back on September 11, 2017.
