RURAL MASON CITY – A Clear Lake man was hurt when the truck he was driving was struck by a train.

The incident took place Wednesday, October 25, around 3:39 PM, when 81-year-old Charles Kuhlemeier of Clear Lake was driving a 2005 Mack truck southbound on Spruce Avenue north of 305th Street. Allegedly, Kuhlemeier failed to yield to a northeast bound Canadian Pacific train and a collision occurred. As a result, Kuhlemeier was injured and taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital.

An investigation into the incident is on-going.

The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by the Cerro GOrdo county sheriff’s office, Mason City fire and EMS.

  1. I appreciate the fact that he is still at it at 80 and still working. We don’t know the whole story here so don’t throw stones. More teen age kids to 30 year olds are more likely to have an accident like this than older people.
