CHICKASAW COUNTY, IOWA – A 3-month-old baby was found dead in an infant swing, and the child’s parents are behind bars in Chickasaw county, accused of murder.
On August 30, 2017, at about 1 PM, the Chickasaw county sheriff’s office and emergency responders went to apartments on Hilltop Avenue in Alta Vista, following a 911 call reporting a child under 4 months old was found unresponsive. Responders found the child deceased in his infant swing. The parents were identified as Zachary Paul Koehn and Cheyanne Renae Harris; they were also the primary caregivers.
An investigation was launched by the sheriff’s office with the assistance of the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI).
On October 25, arrest warrants were issued for Koehn and Harris. Multiple law enforcement agencies assisted in located and arresting the pair, including the Charles City police department and the Mitchell county sheriff’s office, among others. Koehn and Harris are being held on $100,000 bond each on charges of murder in the first degree and child endangerment causing death.
The investigation continues.
These ‘no good’s killed their welfare ticket. Perhaps if welfare benefits were more difficult to obtain these drug heads would not be in such a predicament. Drug/alcohol abuse is a ‘piss poor’ choice ….not a ‘disease’ like some folks classify! The ‘disease’ can get welfare benefits, and in turn it is spent on meth, crack, alcohol, etc, instead of taking care of the ‘innocent, unwanted child’ used as a welfare ticket. These drug heads get more government handouts than any military veteran, who actually deserves government help/support. What does that tell us ? Recipients of welfare benefits should be tested for drugs/alcohol……should be mandatory !

Another sad case of neglect resulting in the death of a child in Iowa. Whatever the true cause it is becoming common place in the much touted heartland of America. And one wonders why.
I don’t wonder why. Strung out tweekers having random sex with anyone who happens along, then totally abandoning their child so they can spend their gubment checks on more meth.
Their is no value placed on life anymore. It’s a me first generation unable and unwilling to make any sacrifice that might inconvenience them. “Oh, you need food, baby? Screw that, momma wants cigarettes, meth, and booze. I’ll get to you later.”
Hope they both get life in prison.
