RURAL PALO ALTO COUNTY, IOWA – An Northern Iowa woman allegedly tried to a avoid a deer and rolled her car several times, landing in a ditch, where she became trapped until a friend found her.
At 1:01 a.m. on Sunday, October 1, 2017 the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office investigated a single vehicle accident in the 5300 block of 320th Street. The Sheriff’s Office learned Jill Patricia Bremer age 41 of Lone Rock was traveling east on 320th Street when a deer exited the ditch. Bremer braked and swerved to avoid striking the deer. The 2000 Dodge Dakota Bremer was operating lost control and entered the north ditch. Bremer’s vehicle rolled several times before coming to rest in the north ditch. Bremer was unable to exit the vehicle due to damage to the vehicle. Bremer was not able to locate her cell phone to call for help.
A friend of Bremer’s, Eric Rutherford, became concerned for Bremer as she had not returned home as expected. Rutherford traveled the route Bremer takes home and ultimately located Bremer trapped in her vehicle in the 5300 block of 320th Street. Bremer was extradited from the vehicle and transported by Rutherford to the Palo Alto Community Hospital.
Bremer would be treated by the Palo Alto Community Hospital and eventually transported by air ambulance to Mercy Hospital of Mason City. The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office advises Bremer was wearing her seat belt which saved her from more severe injuries.
The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office advises the accident remains under investigation.
Court records show that earlier this June, Bremer was guilty of driving a vehicle without a valid license and no registration.
