Couple arrested after burglary reported in Floyd county

RURAL FLOYD COUNTY – A Charles City man and a New Hampton woman were taken to jail after a burglary was reported at a rural residence in Floyd county.

The Floyd county sheriff’s office responded Friday night, September 22 to a burglary in progress in the 3200 block of 220th Street. As a result, two people were arrested. Deputies took 53-year-old Bradley Hanawalt of New Hampton and 32-year-old Leigh Viers of Charles City into custody.

Hanawalt is charged with 3rd degree burglary and driving while suspended. Viers is also accused of 3rd degree burglary. Both have already been released from jail, pending court dates.
