CLEAR LAKE – Tony Nelson announced today he will run for re-election to the Clear Lake city council.

Tony Nelson was elected in 2010 to serve a 4-year term on the council representing the residents of Ward 2. He is currently serving his second term. He also represents Clear Lake as a board member of the Landfill of North Iowa.

“I can’t say how honored and privileged I am to have served the citizens and community of Clear Lake since 2010! I chose to move back to North Iowa in 2007 and specifically chose Clear Lake as I saw it was the best place to live, work and raise a family in all of north central Iowa. To this day, I couldn’t agree more. We continue to lead the path in job growth, amenities, public safety, and quality of life.

“My passion for Clear Lake since I was first elected has not faltered, but has actually grown stronger. I want to continue the legacy we have set and keep placing Clear Lake in the path of success and positive movement. This community has supported me in so many ways and I want to return the favor by asking the citizen’s to allow me to run again for the Ward 2 council seat. We have many opportunities ahead of us and I know I have the experience, time and dedication to identify the ways our city government can continue to succeed. “

After graduating from Lake Mills High School, Tony attended Central College in Pella, IA where he graduated with a BA in Business Management. He also minored in Spanish and participated in Student Senate and enjoyed running for the Dutch Track and Field program.

According to a bio Mr. Nelson submitted to NIT:

Tony is a co-owner and the Director of Sales and Marketing for American Resources LLC of Lake Mills, IA. Before moving back to North Iowa in 2007, Tony worked for Principal Financial Group in Overland Park, KS where he worked with investments and retirement plans.

Tony is a member of Zion Lutheran Church and also a member of the North Iowa Touring Club/NI Spin cycling club.

Tony’s wife, Ashley, is the controller for Stoney Creek Hospitality in Mason City. Tony and Ashley have three daughters: Brynn, Brooklyn and Becca. The Nelson’s reside on Lexington Drive with their dachshund, Denver and are happy to call Clear Lake home!
