One person taken to hospital after car enters ditch south of Mason City

MASON CITY – A single vehicle rollover south of Mason City injured one person Saturday.

On August 26, 2017 at approximately 5:15 PM, Cerro Gordo County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to Highway 65 and 220th Street for a single vehicle rollover with injuries. A red 2001 Chevy Monte Carlo driven by Lisa Lane, age 49, of Mason City was traveling southbound on Highway 65 and attempted to make a left hand turn onto 220th Street. The vehicle left the travel portion of the roadway and entered the southeast ditch of the intersection. The vehicle continued westbound and exited the ditch onto 220th Street, then vehicle re-entered the north ditch and rolled over where it came to rest on it’s top in a drainage culvert. The driver was wearing her seatbelt at the time of accident and was able to exit her vehicle unassisted.

Mason City Fire arrived and transported the driver to Mercy ER with unknown injuries.

The accident investigation is ongoing.

The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by Mason City Fire EMT’s.

Or writing artical while impaired. If you are traveling southbound on 65 and make a left turn and enter the southeast ditch you are now traveling eastbound not westbound.

Wow texting while driving, or driving while impaired I bet!
