MASON CITY – A Mason City man who committed a domestic assault last year has been arrested for another assault, and is accused of violating a no-contact order in the case for a third time.

Mason City police were dispatched for a domestic assault at 1:03 AM on Friday, July 14. Officers arrived at an apartment at 725 North Federal and encountered convicted domestic abuser Andrew Earl Lofton. After an investigation, officers arrested Lofton on charges of aggravated domestic assault, enhanced domestic abuse assault and violation of a no-contact order. That order stems from his arrest in June of 2016, when Lofton committed a domestic assault at 712 North Federal Avenue, likely against the same victim. He previously violated a no-contact order in that case two other times.

Lofton was taken to the county jail, where he remains held on bond until he sees a judge.
