DES MOINES – Gov. Kim Reynolds issued the following statement Friday after meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at the National Governors Association meeting in Providence, R.I.
“It was an honor to meet with Prime Minister Trudeau today to discuss the importance of trade to both Iowa and Canada’s economies.
“More than 27 percent of Iowa’s exports are sent to Canada, making them our top trading partner. Whether it’s Iowa pork or self-propelled bulldozers, Canadians are buying Iowa’s premium products.
“I look forward to continued conversations with Prime Minister Trudeau as we fortify our strong trading relationship.
“I also had the opportunity to discuss the importance of renewable energy with the prime minister. Iowa’s diversified energy portfolio, including biofuels, solar and wind energy, allows our state to not only feed the world, but to fuel it as well.”
