MASON CITY – A Mason City man accused of felony crimes connected to his alleged activities of embezzling from a local doggie hotel has passed away, a local funeral home reports.
Mason City police earlier told NIT that Johnathan Francis Kofron, age 48 of Mason City, was accused of missappropriation or theft of approximately $34,000 during a 10 month stretch, from 2014 through 2015, while he was an employee and/or part-owner of Bark Break Hotel LLC. The 2 criminal charges stem from an investigation of the suspected embezzling.
Kofron was picked up in May on two arrest warrants at his house in Mason City – first-degree theft and ongoing criminal activity. He was released with supervision as he awaited court appearances to answer for his alleged crimes.
However, Ewing Funeral Home reports that Kofron passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2017 – effectively ending prosecution of his case.

I would say a couple of fast food places earnings will drop – I have no remorse for crooks who steal money from an animal shelter and the general public – good riddance .
It wasn’t an animal shelter. It was a boarding facility. Nevertheless, he was a crook who defrauded an insurance company and the owner of the boarding facility.
Coward took his own life before his victims got their day in court. He must have known the cops were right on his heels with more fraud. He’s done nothing honorable in his life. What a waste. My heart goes out to anyone that was victimized by this man, and his family that believed all his lies.
