Governor Kim Reynolds to lead trade and investment mission to Israel

Governor Kim Reynolds

DES MOINES – Governor Kim Reynolds will lead a trade and investment mission to Israel, which will take place September 6-13, 2017. The trip is aimed at expanding trade and investment opportunities for Iowa and is being coordinated by the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA).

The United States is Israel’s largest single-country trading partner. Iowa exports to Israel exceeded $30.6 million in 2016, a 14.5 percent increase over 2015. Additionally, exports from January to April 2017 increased nearly 300 percent over the same period last year. Key sectors that provide opportunities for Iowa companies in Israel include information and communication technology, agtech, biotechnology and animal feeds, among others.

“Trade and investment missions, such as this, uncover untapped opportunities for Iowa companies and serve as a forum to exchange ideas and promote collaboration,” said Governor Reynolds. “Our goal is to open doors for Iowa companies, promote Iowa as a place to do business and ultimately create jobs in our great state.”

Iowa companies in all industry sectors are invited to participate in this mission. Companies looking to expand exporting opportunities can choose to have one-on-one, pre-qualified appointments targeted to their objectives. The deadline for companies to apply for the mission is Friday, July 7, 2017. Additional information and application details are available at iowaeconomicdevelopment.com/missions.

“The Israel mission will help build on Iowa’s success in international trade and continue to strengthen our global partnerships,” said Lt. Governor Adam Gregg. “With the substantial increase in exports to Israel in just the first quarter of this year, it is important that we continue this positive and promising momentum.”

The September mission is comprised of visits to Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. Highlights for the mission include exploring foreign direct investment opportunities, meetings with government and industry association officials, market briefings and Growing Iowa’s Global Partnerships events. Iowa companies will participate in meetings specific to their market entry or expansion needs. Optional attendance to WATEC Israel 2017 (Water Technology and Environment Control Exhibition and Conference) is also available for participants.

The IEDA not only markets Iowa products and services, educates Iowa businesses on exporting and assists global companies wishing to establish or expand operations in Iowa, but also explores opportunities internationally for investment within the state.
