Mason City man remains jailed after allegedly stealing ATV

MASON CITY – A Mason City man who has ran from police before remains jailed after allegedly stealing an ATV and then not cooperating with police as he was arrested.

On June 8th, 2017, at about 9:21 A.M., a Mason City Police Officer stopped a 2016 CanAm ATV four wheeler on 12th N.W. just east of North Eisenhower Avenue. During the stop the officer determined that the ATV was just stolen and subsquently arrested Andrew James Meyer, age 29, of Mason City, IA. The ATV had just been stolen from the House of Sports located at 3431 4th S.W. and it hadn’t been noticed that it was stolen yet.

Meyer was charged with driving with a suspended license, interference with official acts, assault on a peace officer, and felony second-degree theft.

The ATV was released back to the business with no apparent damage.

Meyer remains held in the Cerro Gordo county jail, awaiting an arraignment set for June 27.

Back in 2012, Meyer led police on a drunken, low-speed chase that ended when he pulled into his driveway and tried to run from police.  He was later guilty of drunk driving and eluding.

MEYER, ANDREW JAMES
