Man makes public claim of sexual harassment by a doctor at Mercy Hospital (video interview)

MASON CITY – A man was spotted on a busy Mason City sidewalk Friday afternoon holding a large home made sign, making a bold claim of sexual harassment by a doctor at Mercy Hospital.

A man held a large white sign at the busiest time of day Friday, June 2, on Fourth Street SE near Pierce Avenue, adjacent to a Mercy Hospital parking lot.  Standing and pacing along Fourth Street as drivers rubber-necked to get a glimpse, the man held his sign defiantly; it made a claim of a sexual advance toward him by a doctor and of blackmail.

NIT arrived on the scene to spot the gentleman on the sidewalk, just as a Mercy security car rolled up, just feet away on actual Mercy property.  The two Mercy security guards sat nearby in a parked car, eyeing the man as his sign fluttered in the breeze.   Approaching the demonstrator, NIT was able to ask him some questions about his claims.  He says the alleged sexual advance was by a male doctor back on May 10.  After the advance was rebuffed, he claims Mercy “made up a story that I caused damage to a door … I have charges” he said (see video).

The demonstrator did not want to give his name, saying “I shouldn’t be talking about this.”  He says Mercy won’t let him back in for treatment.

NIT is checking with police about activity on or about May 10 that might match his version of events. NIT has now learned that on May 10, 47-year-old Brian Hahn was arrested on charges of felony second-degree criminal mischief and serious assault after an incident at Mercy Hospital.

He carried on, pacing the sidewalk.
