Chicago man sent to jail for two drunk driving arrests in Cerro Gordo county

MASON CITY – A Chicago man is behind bars in Mason City after two drunk driving arrests this year.

Julius Bernard Ates, age 30 of Chicago, was caught drunk driving twice in March by the Iowa State Patrol. The first arrest was on March 17 when he was allegedly speeding up to 20 miles per hour over the limit, the second on March 25 when he allegedly failed to obey a stop sign.

Ates was given 365 days in jail with all but 5 days suspended in a plea deal. He was also put on probation for a year. He must pay $1857.50 and $1987.50 in fines and court fees.

    1. And how do you know he won’t pay his fines LVS? Proof or your usual racial bias again? How much are his payments, when are they due, has the judge deferred any payments?
