SIOUX CITY – A man who possessed child pornography was sentenced May 22, 2017, to 46 months’ in federal prison.
Chuck Juhl, age 42, from Spirit Lake, Iowa, received the prison term after a February 10, 2017, guilty plea to one count of possession of child pornography.
In a plea agreement, Juhl admitted that on or between July 1, 2014, and October 16, 2014, he knowingly possessed on his personal computer, visual depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct, including images of prepubescent minors.
Juhl was sentenced in Sioux City by United States District Court Judge Leonard T. Strand. Juhl was sentenced to 46 months’ imprisonment. A special assessment of $100 was imposed. He must also serve a 5-year term of supervised release after the prison term. There is no parole in the federal system.
Juhl is being held in the United States Marshal’s custody until he can be transported to a federal prison.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Timothy T. Duax and investigated by Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Department.
