Franklin county sex predator dies in prison

CORALVILLE – A man convicted of sexual offenses out of Franklin county has died in prison, the Iowa Department of Corrections says.

James William Allen was pronounced dead at 2:13 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 in a Hospice room of the Iowa Medical and Classification Center, where he had been housed due to a chronic illness. Allen was 67 years old at the time of his death.

Allen had been serving a 25-year maximum term for committing a felony sexually predatory offense while having a prior conviction for a sexually predatory offense from Franklin County. His sentence began on January 14, 2013.
