Iowa teen found dead in family home; investigation underway

PERRY, IOWA – An Iowa teen was found dead in the family home, and Iowa law enforcement is investigating.

On May 12, 2017 at about 6:30 PM, Perry, Iowa officers and Dallas County Paramedics were called to 1708 1st Avenue in Perry in regards to an unresponsive 16-year-old female. Upon officers’ arrival, the girl was found to be deceased. She was a household family member at the time of her death.

Police later revealed that “the victim of the death investigation” has been identified as Sabrina Ray. An autopsy was completed Wednesday morning at the State Medical Examiner’s Office. The cause of death is currently yet to be determined pending additional testing and the gathering of further information.

Iowa Department of Public Safety says all other children who lived in the household are now in safe placement outside the home.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of Sabrina Ray is ongoing. The Perry Police Department is being assisted in their investigation by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and the Iowa Department of Human Services.
