MASON CITY – A groundbreaking ceremony for the NIACC STEM Center was held Thursday on the college campus.
A reception was first held in the Beem Center Library at 10:15 AM with the groundbreaking beginning promptly at 10:30 AM at the Outdoor Classroom on the East side of McAllister Hall.
General contractor for the new STEM Education Center is Henkel Construction. According to architect Bergland & Cram, the center will provide additional, improved space for STEM programs by providing better lab layouts, student/staff interaction areas, and new STEM Sandbox Classroom. The new structure is a 15,000 square foot addition to McAllister Hall. Math and Science areas will be remodeled. The project may cost as much as $10 million.
