Forest City man caught with gun on NIACC campus says he’s not guilty

NO GUNS ALLOWED ON NIACC CAMPUS

MASON CITY – A Forest City man says he is not-guilty after being charged in a gun incident on the NIACC campus earlier this year.

On February 21, 2017, all area law enforcement agencies were notified from the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department of an attempt to locate on a grey 2005 Dodge Caravan. This was in regards to a welfare check on the adult male driver who was last known to be in the Hanlontown area. At about 10:32 AM, Mason City Police were notified by Winnebago County that the subject in question was now on the North Iowa Area Community College school grounds at 500 College Drive. Upon arrival at the campus, officers quickly located the subject – Andrew Jordan Knudtson, age 20 out of Forest City – walking outside. He was transported to the Mercy Hospital East Campus without incident.

Allegedly, a handgun was found in Knudtson’s car during a subsequent search. As a result, Mason City police charged Knudtson with felony carrying weapons on school grounds.

Knudtson has been appointed a public defender. Later in March, he entered a not-guilty plea. He is now awaiting a pretrial conference set for May 22, and a Jury trial set for June 6 in Cerro Gordo county.

KNUDTSON, ANDREW JORDAN
