WEST UNION, IOWA – A Mason City woman is in jail after illegally driving to a halfway house in another part of the state.
On April 17, 2017, at approximately 6:10 AM, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office took a report of a suspended driver that drove to the West Union Residential Facility, located at 500 South Pine Street in West Union, Iowa. When Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputies arrived on scene, Galina Mikhaylovna Sagaydak, age 37 of Mason City, was arrested for driving while license suspended a simple misdemeanor and driving without sr22 insurance on file, a serious misdemeanor.
Sagaydak was taken into custody and transported to Fayette County Jail, where she awaits an initial appearance.
Currently, Sagaydak – who apparently needs interpreters in court proceedings – is awaiting a plea hearing in Floyd county for illegal drug possession. Back on the morning of June 15, 2016, the Charles City police department conducted a search warrant on a vehicle in the 1400 block of Gilbert Street. Narcotics and other illegal items were seized during the search. Records further show that she was convicted of felony second-degree theft in Winneshiek in 2016 and instead of prison, was sent to a residential facility. She was ordered to pay over $3,000 in court costs and restitution and directed to attend a financial management course. This year, she was found guilty of violating her probation.
