MASON CITY – A Mason City man is guilty of his second drunk driving charge after an arrest earlier this year.

A Cerro Gordo county deputy conducted a traffic stop Sunday morning, February 26 at about 12:53 Am near Mallard Avenue and 300th Street. After an investigation, the driver, 29-year-old Cody Alan Wendel, was arrested for operating while intoxicated and taken to jail.

Wendel later entered a guilty plea to second-offense operating while intoxicated. He was sentenced to 7 days in jail, lost his driver’s license, and must pay $2,641.25 in fines and court fees.

Wendel was arrested back in 2011 by police in Coralville, Iowa, for drunk driving. He later pled guilty and was given a jail sentence and fine.
