Has anyone stepped back to think that maybe the parents were working nightshift, or maybe these might be the very first teenagers to ever sneak out of the house (insert sarcasm here). Please respect the families of this tragic event to remember their child (regardless of age or who was driving) for the precious gift of life they were, regardless of any actions they took directly leading up to their tragic deaths. Have a heart! Be thankful this isn’t you!

Who the hell do you think you are!?!? How dare you make a comment like that, you coward! You post about anonymously, prob because you’re talking out your ass your mouth knows better. If you have nothing nice to say shut up, karma’s a bitch you jerk and you just wait you’ll get yours. What kind of monster are you,? A young man lost his life! You Mr cowardly anonymous are a true jack ass

Five young people died. Let the families hurting heal a little. Check your own heart before you write hateful, hurtful comments. It’s very disappointing to read these comments, and know the community you live in. This incident was a tragedy, there are people hurting that the incident left behind. Be mindful we’re your support if it happens to you.

Lets use a little common sense here. Five young people out at 2:30am were probably partying. but you have the moral majority on here talking BS about these kids with out knowing them. Kids are kids whether it is 1950 1970 or 2017. kids will party. I did. Most on here did. why pile on the parents? you don’t think each and everyone of them are racking their brains asking them self what they could of done different. But we have people that think they could do better. Until you walked in each parent or kids shoes you have no idea. Sympathy goes to the friends and family and hope they find some peace in this tragedy.

Very well said. I had great parents and they were strict, but I still found a way to go around them and did plenty of stupid things when I was a teenager.

Matt, this type of trash mouth comment need to be purged. Donte Foster was my grand nephew, and we loved him very much in spite of it all!!

I agree – have some decency!

Yes, we should ban all speech we disagree with

Agreed Mr. Foster. The comment needs not only to be purged but criminally investigated. And on the matter of purging Matt needs to clean up his web site before he tells the mayor and city council about how they should conduct their business.

I am going to say this because right now it needs to be said. WHO, AT THIS POINT GIVES A FUCK WHAT LED UP TO THIS. You don’t think people don’t wonder and wish these potential factors weren’t at play?? It was an accident…there’s alot of people, INCLUDING them that wish they could go back and redo things. It doesn’t matter now. What’s done is DONE. it still doesn’t change shit. Unless you got something SUPPORTIVE to say for the grieving families and friends…then SHUT THE FUCK UP. I didn’t know any of these kids personally but I do know alot of people that did. They know they will NEVER get the opportunity to correct their behaviors from that night and believe me, they wish they could. Unless your ass walks on water, you have NO RIGHT to say shit about who did what, where, when. You ALL have done stupid shit in your life…WE ALL HAVE. WE got lucky, THEY didnt. Isn’t it enough for your sorry ass that they paid the consequences for their actions? They fucked up. They paid for it. What the fuck more do you want!? Think whatever you want…but give the families the respect that YOU would want if YOUR kid did something stupid and PAID FOR IT WITH THEIR LIFE. You disgust me you piece of shit. Fuck you! If any of you got any other wonders or comments, I’d be more than happy to discuss this with you in greater detail. Just let me know…

And just for the record, I thought the same things, but I thought them PRIVATELY. I didn’t verbalize them on the internet hiding behind some fake ass name like a chicken shit. But even thought I thought them, their parents probably thought them, their friends thought them…it DOESN’T MATTER NOW, DOES IT? Have some fucking respect and try to find a SHRED of compassion…

Is this Man Cave Dave Hill?

I heard some kids talking about it in a store they said they been at a party drinking & doing drugs.

I have to completely agree what in the heck was a 14 year old girl doing alone with 4 “nearly adult men” ? At that hour? Something isn’t right with all of this. It’s beyond tragic to begin with but please I really don’t think we should be ignoring that something is very wrong with this!

4 adult or near adult males with a 14 year old girl!? Obviously they were up to no good. Why was a 14 year old girl out at 0230? Just how did she end up with them? There is a lot more than an accident here.

Nothing good happens on the streets after midnight…

REALLY? Not all people work 9 to 5. The world doesn’t shut down when you go to bed. Some of us are night people some aren’t.

Ya you’re probably right, I am sure the 14-year-old girl was just getting off work and the five guys were just giving her a ride home from work.

What is a 14 year old CHILD doing out at 2;30 am?

Exactly.

I’d like to know how fast this vehicle was going and what it struck to kill all 5 occupants within the city limits of Mason City. And none of them obviously were wearing seat belts. Or were they? 5 people dead in one crash means the driver must have really been going fast. Tell us the details MCPD. Or will it take Basu at the Des Moines Register to write an article a year later to get to the facts, like she did with the Alex Kuhn story?

Why do you think you are entitled to know?

basu is a buffoon. she’s a joke. knowing won’t change a thing.

They were going 100 mph

Becoming a adult.

This is terrible. What a senseless tragedy. Parents. Where in the hell are you in regards to your kids? The 1950’s attitude found in Mason City needs to be stamped out. There’s no reason children should be feeling like they need to drive fast and reckless. Start young. Stamp this behavior out. Eliminate the social cues parents may be giving which lead children to act like this. What’s worth more….your damn classic muscle cars…or a child’s life? C’mon all you idiots…Wake up. Clean up your broken culture.

1950’s attitude? In the 1950’s parents supervised their children, unlike today where they are allowed to run wild 24 hours a day.

Damn right they did. Kids had rules to live by and the were made to obey them. People had responsibility in the 50’s. Nothing like today with rampant drugs.

You both are exactly right. But that all changed when our government took discipline away from parents.

Explain how the government took parenting responsibilities away from parents. In what ways did they take away your responsibilities as a parent? Examples please.

You want an example, then reread my comment, several times, and try and comprehend what I posted. You should mind your own business because you mostly talk out of your ass because your head knows better.

You talk tuff Allen so we’d like to know, how has the government personally usurped YOUR rights as a parent? In what specific ways did government intervention impact your ability to raise your children?

Allen-that Anonymous thinks it is cute to ask stupid questions that everyone knows the answers to. You will notice he/she never has a answer.

Wally and the Beav were home.

Often, some children don’t really have “parents”. At least not in the sense some of us think of. Many children today are apt to come from single parent homes and without anyone to watch over or out for them, some of these children virtually become feral.

Fair point, and that may be contributory to a degree, but the bigger issue here is cultural. Amish kids may ride a horse too hard, or walk through a neighbors vegetable garden and step on a rake…but the culture of fast times are often celebrated as a rite of passage in Mason City, and that needs to end. I want your kids so square it hurts. I want them playing Clarinet solos on the weekends, and games of chess. I want them doing math problems. I DON’T want them doing drugs and driving cars recklessly, blasted out of their minds. C’mon Mason City…it’s time. Time to clean your damn culture up. Parents, it’s time to stop buying the packs of Marlboros, and skip the trip to the Kum and Go. Go to Reiman Music and buy your family a damn piano. Play it til your fingers bleed. Clean out your ears with one of those plastic bulb syringes. Do something different.
