NIACC’s Enochs earns ICCAC player of week honor

MASON CITY – NIACC’s Connor Encochs was selected as the co-ICCAC Division II baseball player of the week for the week of April 3-9.

Enochs, a sophomore from Des Moines, hit .451 (14 of 31) with 10 runs scored and six RBIs. Encochs collected his 100th career hit with a go-ahead home run against Southeastern on April 9 in a game the Trojans won 7-6.

Enochs was also exceptional at shortstop in the four-game series against Southeastern.

Iowa Central first baseman Fran Diaz shared the player of the week award with Enochs. Diaz hit .375 with three home runs.

Enochs has 102 career hits (20th on school’s career list) with 71 RBIs (19th on school’s career list), 90 runs scored (15th on school’s career list), 23 stolen bases (tied for 11th on school’s career list) and 55 walks (13th on school’s career list).

NIACC (21-14 overall) returns to action Wednesday at home against Century College in a nine-inning contest starting at 4 p.m. at Roosevelt Field.
