OBIT: Ethel Maxine (Lewis) Ingram, 98, of Charles City

Ethel Maxine (Lewis) Ingram, 98, of Charles City, passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City. She loved and served the Lord all of her life and He called her home.

A funeral service for Ethel Ingram will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at Bethany Alliance Church in Charles City with Pastor Coulter Page officiating. Burial will be at the Mt. Carroll Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. near Bassett.

Visitation will be at Hauser Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, 2017 and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.

Ethel Maxine (Lewis) Ingram, the daughter of Herbert A. and Jessie M. (Allen) Lewis, was born July 3, 1918 in Powersville, Iowa. She attended school in Charles City, graduating from Charles City High School in 1936. Ethel was united in marriage to Carl “Casey” James Ingram on October 25, 1936 in Powersville. The couple was blessed with three daughters: Bonnie, Audrey and Dorothy.

Ethel worked in the Charles City area providing maid service for several people. She was also an excellent seamstress, gardener, baker and cook. Her family was so important to her and they treasured her as a wonderful mom and grandma. Ethel was part of the Foster Grandparent Program for over 20 years in the Charles City Public and Parochial Elementary School System.

Ethel was a member of Bethany Alliance Church in Charles City where she had been active with the Bethany Alliance Women. She had also been a Sunday school teacher and superintendent at Bassett Congregational Church, a member of the Royal Neighbors of America 1493 of Bassett for over 60 years and was the former Secretary/Treasurer of the Mt. Carroll Cemetery Association.

Living family members include her two daughters: Bonnie L. (Ingram) Pelz and Audrey J. (Ingram) Hildrebrand/Boysen both of Webster City; eight grandchildren: William L. Bisher of Webster City, Brenda S. (Bisher) Weeks of Hawaii, Joanne F. (Hildrebrand) Peterson of Minnesota, Raymond S. Hildebrand of Oregon, Bonnie S. Hildrebrand of Oregon, Carmen C.

Hildrebrand/Remirez of Oregon, Dion J. Ingram of Charles City and Nicholas C. Stacey of Minnesota; six great-grandchildren; two sisters: Eileene Trobaugh of Hayward, California and Catherine Youngdale of Sun Lakes, Arizona; along with several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl “Casey”James Ingram, on December 22, 1978; daughter, Dorothy Stacey in 2012; grandson, Berri J. Bisher; and two sisters: Leona Rowley and Jean Graham.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Bethany Alliance Church, 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home, Hospice of North Iowa and/or a charity of the donor’s choice.
