Police find “large amount of marijuana” at Mason City house; man arrested

MASON CITY – A report of a burglary led police to obtain a search warrant and the discovery of what they call a “large amount of marijuana.”

On April 2, 2017 at approximately 7:25 AM, the Mason City Police Department responded to 1226 N. President regarding a possible burglary in progress. During the investigation of that incident, drugs were located in the residence. A search warrant was executed on the residence and a large amount of marijuana was seized.

It turned out the house had not been burglarized and nothing was missing, police say.

Arrested at the scene was 23-year-old Trey Richey of Mason City, he was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver a Class “D” Felony, Failure to Affix a Drug Tax Stamp a Class “D” Felony, and possession of Drug Paraphernalia a Simple Misdemeanor.
