CHARLES CITY – Law enforcement put a stop to some alleged drug activity in downtown Charles City Tuesday night.

The Charles City Police Department reports that Tuesday night at about 6:24 PM, officers were made aware of people possibly using illegal substances in a vehicle in a parking lot in the 800 block of Kelly Street. An officer in the vicinity conducted a traffic stop near North Main and Clark Streets.

As a result of the report and investigation, 22-year-old Samuel Dight of Charles City was arrested and charged with possession with intent to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia. More charges are possible, police say.

The Charles City Police Department thanked the Floyd County Sheriffs deputy for assisting with the incident.

Dight was put on 5-years of probation last November in connection to felony drug charges out of Chickasaw county as well as a second-offense marijuana possession guilty plea.  He was given a suspended 5-year prison sentence as part of his plea deal.  Dight is also on probation for harassment and assault in Floyd county.
