IOWA FALLS, IOWA – A Hampton woman was jailed last week after an investigation into a drunk driving incident involving a child in the vehicle.
Carrie Lea Young, formerly of Mason City but now calling Hampton home, was involved in an alleged drunk driving incident on January 5, 2017, in which a child was in her vehicle. A warrant for her arrest was finally issued in connection to this incident on February 17, 2017, and she was arrested by Iowa Falls police two days later, records show, on charges of first-offense operating while intoxicated and child endangerment. She posted $2,000.00 cash or surety bond on February 20 and was released from jail as she awaits an appearance in court set for February 22.
Young, age 34, was guilty of drunk driving after an arrest in Cerro Gordo county in 2008.
Court records show that across a multi-county region stretching from Cerro Gordo to Story, Young has been accused – among other crimes – of theft, domestic assault causing bodily injury, lying to police, interference with official acts, assault, driving while barred, violating a protective order, criminal mischief, accessory to a felony, burglarizing cars, drunk driving, public intoxication and assault causing bodily injury. Some of the charges were plea deals, some convictions, some dismissed. She owes thousands of dollars to Iowa courts.
