Rockwell man denies guilt in felony meth possession case

CLEAR LAKE – A Rockwell man with a history of meth possession who was caught once again with the highly-illegal substance recently in Clear Lake says he’s not guilty after he was charged with a felony.

Cerro Gordo deputies located a vehicle law enforcement had been searching for early Saturday morning, October 29 at about 12:50 AM. The vehicle was stopped at 2nd Avenue North and North Shore Drive in Clear Lake. The driver, 30-year-old Tressa Ann Petty of Mason City, was arrested for driving under suspension. She is a convicted drunk driver who owes Iowa courts thousands of dollars connected to a number of cases – in fact, she owes the entire $3,014.80 in her last drunk driving case.

Also arrested was 45-year-old Danny Lee Belcher of Rockwell on a charge of felony third-offense possession of methamphetamine. Belcher has faced serious drug charges off and on since at least 2000, having been sent to an Iowa prison back in 2003 after he was busted by Spencer police for possession of drugs with intent to deliver.

Belcher posted $5,000 cash bond and was released from jail. In November, he and and his public defender entered a not-guilty plea. He now awaits a January 24, 2017 jury trial and a January 9, 2017 pre-trial conference.

Court records showed no records for this case in the books for Petty.
