Clarion woman perishes after auto accident on slushy road

BLAIRSBURG, IOWA (HAMILTON COUNTY) – A Clarion woman died as a result of a two-vehicle crash Monday in Hamilton county.

The accident took place Monday, December 19, just after noon, shut of 220th Street on Highway 69. A Clarion woman, 24-year-old Andrea Urrutia Matul, was northbound on Highway 69 and lost control of her Mitsubishi vehicle on the snow and slush covered road. The vehicle crossed the center line and collided with a southbound 1996 vehicle driven by 36-year-old Mark Noble Yeager of nearby Blairsburg, Iowa. Yeager’s vehicle struck Matul’s vehicle on the passenger side. Both units came to rest on the west shoulder.

As a result of the accident, Matul died. Yeager was injured and to Van Diest Medical Center in Webster City.

The crash remains under investigation at this time.
