MASON CITY – Tragedy has struck again in Mason City, this time as a fire has evidently claimed the life of a young child.
The Mason City Police and Fire Departments responded to a house fire that resulted in the death of a young child. On December 10th, 2016 at 10:55 pm. a neighbor reported he could see the house was on fire and was attempting to alert the residents. When Officers and Firefighters arrived the house was fully engulfed.
NIT is told the address of the fire was at 118 13th Street NE, owned by a woman, Marilyn Lankford.
Investigators are still on scene trying to determine the cause of the fire. The names of any victims are being withheld pending notification of family.
