AMES – Iowa State redshirt junior guard Jadda Buckley was named Big 12 Player of the Week for the second time in in the last three weeks, the league announced Monday. The award was Buckley’s fifth Big 12 weekly honor, as she earned Freshman of the Week three times in 2013-14.
Buckley came out strong against No. 6 Mississippi State netting 19 points and dishing 11 assists for her fourth-career double-double. She went 7-of-17 from the floor and a perfect 2-of-2 from downtown as she engineered the Cyclone offense. ISU would eventually fall in overtime, 85-81. In Iowa State’s second game in as many days, the Buckley netted 18 points and dished nine assists to put away New Orleans, 100-63.
On the week, Buckley averaged 18.5 points and 10 assists and shot 83 percent from long range and 80 percent from the charity stripe.
Iowa State returns to the court on Wednesday when it takes on Iowa in the Iowa Corn CyHawk series at 7 p.m. in Iowa City.
