Estherville man in a mess of trouble after domestic incident and crashing two vehicles

ESTHERVILLE, IOWA – Estherville police were called to a trailer court to deal with an allegedly intoxicated man who stirred up a mess of trouble for himself.

On November 20, 2016 at approximately 12:05 a.m., Estherville Police were dispatched to 2302 3rd Avenue South lot # 80, in regards to a Domestic Assault complaint. Upon arrival, Officers met with and were speaking with the female reporting party. Officers could hear glass breaking at a residence in close proximity to the reporting party’s residence. Officers then made contact with 29-year-old Jessie Martin of Estherville. It was discovered that Martin had broken a window out of the adjacent residence and that he appeared to be intoxicated. Martin was taken into custody at that time for Criminal Mischief and Public Intoxication.

Upon speaking with the female reporting party, it was discovered that Martin had taken her car and had lost control of it while he was driving in the 900 block of South 28th Street. Estherville Police located the vehicle on South 28th Street. Police also discovered that Martin had also stolen a large boom truck from Christensen Construction. Police determined that Martin had attempted to pull the vehicle from the ditch and as a result, rolled the boom truck at the same location.

Upon completion of the investigation, Martin was transported to the Emmet County Jail and charged with Theft in the 1st degree, Domestic Abuse Assault with Strangulation Causing Bodily Injury, Operation Without Owners Consent, OWI 2nd, Criminal Mischief. Martin made his initial appearance in Emmet County Magistrate Court where his bond was set at $10,000 Cash or Surety.

The Estherville Police Department was assisted by the Emmet County Sheriff’s Department.
