Mason City woman guilty of drunk driving, escapes child endangerment charge

MASON CITY - A Mason City woman was sentenced in a drunk driving case in which children were allegedly involved.

MASON CITY – A Mason City woman was sentenced in a drunk driving case in which children were allegedly involved.

Italy Shante Denwiddie (pictured at top), age 30, of Mason City, was arrested by the Iowa State Patrol in Cerro Gordo county back on July 5, 2016.  She faced charges of first-offense operating while intoxicated and child endangerment.  She was  also charged with no seat belt (guilty paid $127.50),  failure to use child restrain device (guilty paid $195.00), failure to use child restrain device (guilty paid $195.00), failure to use child restrain device (guilty paid $195.00),  open container (guilty paid $330.00), no insurance (guilty paid $397.50) and no driver’s license (guilty paid $330.00).

After a plea deal, she is also guilty of the drunk driving charge.   She got 2 years in jail deferred and must pay $5,943.50 in fines and court costs. The child endangerment charge was deferred.
