NEW HAMPTON – A New Hampton man was stopped by police and during the traffic stop fled on foot, but didn’t get far.
On Sunday, November 6, 2016, at approximately 2:30 AM, Chickasaw County Deputies stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation at Mission Avenue and 190th Street. The driver, Terrence William Baltes, age 20 of rural New Hampton, fled on foot but was apprehended a short while later. Baltes was placed under arrest and charged with Interference With Official Acts, Operating While Intoxicated-2nd Offense, Driving While License Revoked, Operating Without an Ignition Interlock Device and Possession of Alcohol Under the Legal Age-2nd Offense.
A passenger in the same vehicle, Tanner Alan Sorensen, age 20 of rural New Hampton, was placed under arrest for Possession of a Controlled Substance-2nd Offense, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of Alcohol Under the Legal Age.
Both Sorensen and Baltes were transported to the Chickasaw County Jail where they were held pending their initial appearance.
