MASON CITY – Tim Latham has defeated Jay Urdahl in the District 1 Cerro Gordo Supervisor race. Latham, a Republican, defeated Urdahl, the Democratic incumbent, 3,644 to 3,220.
Latham was home Tuesday evening as the votes were tabulated and gave a TV interview after his victory was announced on the Cerro Gordo county website. His opponent, Jay Urdahl, who has served the county for 28 years, called to congratulate him. He was at the Prime N Wine restaurant with other Democrats, watching election results.
Latham told NIT that he was thankful for the voters who supported him.
“I just want to thank everyone who took the time to cast a vote for me,” Latham said. “It was a good election. I’d like to thank Jay Urdahl for his long-time service here in Cerro Gordo county.”
The Cerro Gordo Board of Supervisors is now all Republican, with Chris Watts also winning Tuesday over Phil Dougherty and Casey Callanan already elected.
